STENECOURT SYNAGOGUE

Stenecourt Synagogue is in the heart of a vibrant and growing Jewish community in Broughton Park. Originally based in the historic Great Synagogue in Cheetham Hill, it is one of the oldest serving congregations in Britain.

The interior of the synagogue, including the Shul (prayer hall) had become tired and dated, last being refurbished in the 1980s. The active congregation needed more space for events and an approach that reflected the forward-thinking orthodox community.

Bold architectural design creates a more contemporary space which is both inspiring and reflective. The refurbished interior was extended with a new hall and private garden. Working with stained glass window artist Chavasart to bring vibrancy and colour to the space, the building now has a strong identity and continues to be at the very centre of community life.
