BYTON
A listed farmhouse in rural Shropshire, parts of this family home date back to the 15th century, with alterations and additions from the 16th- 20th centuries. Our brief was to ensure this unique space could meet the needs of a new generation. A new rounded kitchen extension in local stone echoes the historic curved bread oven in the kitchen, whilst modern design detail and clean lines contrast with the historic fabric. Internally, significant features are retained including an historic passageway, exposed timber framing and examples of wattle and daub plaster to the interior walls. Proposals include the conversion of the attic space, removal of non-original partitions, and remodelling of the kitchen and dining areas to provide an impressive family home.
