Our Team
Ray Makin
Chairman
Ray has a strong interest in Urban Regeneration with a particular passion for the innovative re-use of listed buildings. In private practice since 1980, he has a vast range of experience in the redevelopment and re-use of buildings of all ages as well as being instrumental in the design and delivery of significant new build schemes throughout the North. He has been a long standing member of Manchester’s Conservation and Historic Buildings Panel and is currently chairman of the Manchester Chamber of Commerce. He is on the RIBA Conservation Register to CA level
Laura studied at Manchester Metropolitan University where she gained a First Class BA Honours in History of Art and Design. Following this she undertook an MA in the History and Theory of Architecture at Leeds University.
Laura spent 5 years working at Urban Splash as a Development Assistant and then Residential Management Co-ordinator, before joining Heritage Works (formerly Ancoats Building Preservation Trust), as a Project Officer in 2009.
Laura ensures that projects involving historic buildings or conservation areas start with as much background knowledge as possible, ensuring that the company philosophy that the best finish follows the most knowledgeable start, underpins all of our conservation work. She can produce Heritage Statements and Heritage Appraisals, for both oursleves or for external bodies.

Andrew Burns
Managing Director
Andrew has a wide range of experience in different sectors, and has a network of long standing clients in the residential, domestic, retail and commercial sectors. He has worked on new-build and refurbishment schemes, both contemporary and historic, and has a keen interest in the inventive regeneration of cities and buildings. As Managing Director he is also responsible for office systems, Quality Management and IT.
Heloise Wood
Associate Architect
Heloise studied at Sheffield University School of Architecture and has always had special interest in historic buildings. She is fully accredited on the RIBA Conservation register to CR level.
In addition to this she has a wide range of experience in all manner of projects both conversion work and new-build from single dwellings to much larger commercial schemes.
Paul Lodge
Architect
Paul Lodge, formerly with Jamieson Associates, has undertaken various projects in the Hereford area, including projects such as Sophie House for Martha Trust, developments for Brockhampton Court and new headquarters for S&A Group UK Ltd.
Paul has been recruited to establish the presence of Atelier MB in Hereford as well as taking a role on projects elsewhere in the country.
