Queens Chambers, Manchester
An exciting refurbishment of both the interior office spaces and the exterior retail spaces of this Grade II listed building, making the most of the original features. Atelier MB stripped out modern ceilings, walls and lift, exposing original cornices, architectural details and balustrades. The new entrances and lobbies are an exciting juxtaposition of the historic and the contemporary. From being virtually empty, the building is now almost fully let.
The retail spaces were re-elevated using contemporary techniques in a restrained palette of materials, ensuring the new elements were complementary to the existing historic fabric.
