Amazon House, Manchester
A refurbishment of the ground floor of a Grade II Listed Victorian packing warehouse. Works consisted of converting an existing shop unit into office accommodation and providing improved entrance facilities.
The quality of the space had been compromised over the years and listed building consent was
obtained to restore original windows and expose
existing brickwork and beams. WC and kitchen facilities were installed within a ‘pod’, separating the new intervention from the main space.
The new reception area has received similar treatment, including the removal of suspended ceilings. This enlarged space takes full advantage of the oversized original windows, whilst also retaining original internal windows. Modern timber panelling surrounds the lift and conceals cupboards neatly.
