86 Princess Street

A Grade II listed Edwardian Baroque shipping warehouse, under-used and overlooked, but now revived as an adaptable and characterful working space. Atelier Heritage provided a comprehensive Heritage Assessment including analysis of significance for the building, one of a group of large-scale, decorative warehouses which line Princess Street and Whitworth Streets.

Based on detailed archive research and on-site surveys, we were able to create a hierarchy of significance for all elements within the building. The findings of the report informed a refurbishment scheme which removed inappropriate additions, exposed original features and made sensitive contemporary interventions. Atelier Heritage authored a detailed Heritage Statement to accompany a successful Listed Building Consent application. Ongoing liaison with the client, design team and planning officers has ensured this impressive forgotten gem is now back in use.
